2014 Kawasaki KFX 450R Specs
Sep 11, 2013 - 11:47 AM - by NickJ

Race-Ready Sport ATV Better than a Bird or a Plane

Whether tackling the tallest sand dune or taking the podium on any Sunday, riders turn to the KFX450R as the sport ATV to take them to the top. An agile chassis and extended A-arm front suspension get off the ground thanks to a race-dominating engine with Digital Fuel Injection (DFI). Honoring Kawasaki’s aerospace heritage, the KFX450R’s rigid aluminum frame and lightweight components allow it to fly through the air with ease. From one pinnacle to the next, the deep roots of this sport ATV help riders reach their peak.
With a potent powerplant proven on the Supercross championship-winning KX™450F, the KFX450R ATV is ready to race. A strong, tapered, Renthal Fatbar allows for excellent leverage and nimble handling. On that bar is the magic button... connected to a compact electric starter.

At its core, a highly responsive 32-bit DFI system automatically compensates for temperature and altitude, resulting in mind-blowing thrust conversion from the KFX’s four-stroke engine. Riders can rocket out of corners due to the huge amounts of torque in both the low- and medium-rpm ranges.

The KFX450R’s five-speed manual transmission includes an unobtrusive reverse gear system. Thanks to the KFX’s lightweight aluminum frame, total unit weight is no more than a steel frame without reverse. The convenience of the reverse gear is evident to riders who can quickly and easily extricate themselves from first turn chaos, trail bottlenecks or any other on-track incident, using the normal shift lever plus a convenient handlebar mounted lock-out lever.

Built to handle tough trail conditions and win races, the KFX450R’s lightweight all-aluminum frame has both incredible stiffness and significant strength. The high-tech chassis also provides a low center of gravity, which minimizes weight transfer during cornering for higher corner speeds and race-level handling.

The front suspension design mounts lengthy lower A-arms to a single box-section lower frame tube, paired with dual-rate front springs for excellent rough-terrain handling. In the rear, an adjustable shock with low- and high-speed compression and rebound damping adjustability is mated to a cast aluminum swingarm that offers the ideal balance of flexibility and rigidity. Regardless of track surfaces or conditions, this race-oriented chassis makes the KFX450R a bullet train of its own.

Easy maintenance of the KFX450R means owners can spend more time in the dirt than in the garage. The two-piece front and rear “lapped” fenders make it easier to customize the size of the fenders or quickly replace damaged sections. Even the headlight assembly is quickly detachable for closed-course races – and this ATV looks aggressive with or without headlights. These features leave little doubt that the KFX450R was designed to win. Perhaps it’s only fair to give the rest of the field a few seconds head start.

2014 Kawasaki KFX 90 Specs
Sep 11, 2013 - 11:36 AM - by NickJ

Compact Sport ATV Matches Growing Riders of all Skill Levels

For riders age 12 and over who have outgrown their 50cc ATV or are just beginning to enjoy the trails with mom and dad, the 2014 KFX90 offers the perfect mix of strength and safety. With a fully automatic transmission that is easy to operate and start via an electronic push-button ignition, full suspension and styling inspired by its race-oriented big brother, the KFX90 is the ideal machine to nurture riders' abilities on the track or in the woods. Family-friendly features including full floorboards to protect riders’ feet and parental controls to limit top speed will keep parents smiling almost as much as their kids.

The amount of power put out by the KFX90’s environmentally friendly four-stroke 89cc engine is optimal for riders’ growing size and skill set. With a wide mid-range powerband delivering plenty of usable torque, dual front shocks and a single-shock rear suspension to make the handling more enjoyable, young riders will find it easier to ride along with the adults. Thanks to the durable continuously variable transmission, the need to shift gears is eliminated for new riders, allowing them more time to focus on honing their riding technique.

Parents can relax in knowing that the KFX90’s ignition switch prevents unauthorized use without the key. Even after parents hand over the key once the homework is done, they can still exercise control over the KFX90’s available performance via the throttle limiting screw and removable CVT speed-limiting collar. Such intelligent features allow the ATV’s maximum speed to be tuned to match a rider’s ability. Perhaps this safety focus is unsurprising, as many Kawasaki engineers are also parents themselves.

The KFX90 is also equipped with premium features like electric starting, a single-shock rear suspension, independent A-arm front suspension, and a single rear disc brake, supplemented by dual front drum brakes.
