Making an ATV Street Legal?
I know this is possible, i'm in NY and wanted to try it. I know it must be Registered, Inspected, and Insured in order to be considered legal for street (non-highway) riding.
Registration- If you have a title, this is easy. Go to the DMV and get it registered. If you don't (like me) you have to apply for a title, which means having the previous owner fill out a form proving it was his. Which isn't easy when you can't get to him...
Inspection- I know when it's registered and insured, you have to get it inspected. For an inspection you need a working horn, 1 or more brakelight(s), a headlight, and turn signals. (I may be missing something)
Insurance- Easy process, just get it insured by Geico or any other provider.
Is this all I need to do? If anyone has ever done this before, am I missing anything? Thanks in advance

That's news to me if it can be made street legal in NY. Post up link up to the actual laws if you have them. There may be some parts way upstate where they let you use a few roads to get between trails, but I'd fall off my chair shocked if it's more than that.

I'm gonna look again for the page on the DMVs website. But I think its just like a motorcycle, but you need to add most of the stuff (turn signals, mirrors, etc.) but i'm almost sure I saw it somewhere. I'm gonna give this a shot and ask about it when I go to register it. I'll keep everyone updated.

It's legal in So. Dakota but I doubt that there is anyway to do it in most states. Don't get me wrong, I'd ride mine everywhere if there was a way.
