Well im trying a mod that I have not seen done yet ..
Every one into the ds knows you can get a big lectron carb and spend $700 bucks to get some performance out of it ...

I did some searching and am going to try out a 05trx450 carb on the dser ..

it all measures up good and should be a easy swap .. this will change the old outdated 42bsr cv style carb to fcr pumper ... this should greatly improve throttle response and add some good performance ... here is the kicker ... service honda has this carb brand new for $165 !!!!!! WOW this should be a awesome upgrade for very little dollars ....

I will post on the results ...

and here is another kicker !!!! preditor owners can do the same thing !! they also run the old cv style bsr42 carb ....

just a little sum sum to think about ..... keep it on the down low .....

sell the stocker for 50-75 bones and this upgrade has a wicked value .... unmatched ... whos your daddy ....

a little ds love ... click vid

the differance is that ds can trail ride all day long .... go jumping ... drive 50 miles at a time ..

no need to drag it to the starting line .. then drag a starting box .. to get it runing ... everyone has a she ... I dont even look at shes any more ... there a dime a dozen ....

I like to see fast quads that can be rode with stock motors in the frame ...

I know a few 4 strokes that can run with the fastest of shes ....

The thing about Banshees is that you have to work on them after every ride even in stock form..

I had opportunity to ride a new stock banshee the other day. I've got to say it was a lot of fun. You have to shift it a lot, but it really goes for a stock bike. Doesn't require much work, but I know that time will come.

VBob, the LT500 is a great bike for bigger guys. THey are very fast with $900 worth of mods, but a lot of work due to their age. I had always wanted one, but now despise having to work on things on my precious desert weekends. The only real complaint I have is the distance between the seat and the pegs feels pretty short. I have a good friend that is selling his, new works shocks, motor/trans just gone through, new pipe, all new gears, bearings... great shape. Can get it for around $3500. I just don't have the desire to keep an old bike up anymore. Go figure!!!

i agree but if your gonna drag race and wanna go the fastest i think the banshee is the way to go 2 thats what i think and yes u have to tweak on them its just like a real hot rod with a banshee the sky is the limit as long as u got the cash like the 915cc banshee it make almost 200hp but like u said it all what u like

So is the TRX450 carb an FCR carb, or still the diaphragm type carb that the stock DS has? Keep us posted.

The 450R carb is a pumper carb...just basically a bigger version of the 35.5 mm carb that comes on the 400EX. I've seen many topics on guys swapping these over onto built 400EX's (440's and 465-505cc strokers). People are having good luck with them (as a top end carb, but low end is fairly weak), but I'm thinking if this carb is working on the motors I just mentioned that it's going to be a little on the small side for a built DS. But...I may be wrong. Most guys on a 440EX will run an FCR39 or 41 depending on if they want low to mid range or mid to top end power. (and yes I know we're not talking about Hondas here....but, I'd think that a carb which is working on a 200+ cc smaller motor...it will probably be a bit too small...I knew there was a point in there somewhere).

But...I suppose for the $165 or so, you may as well give it a shot. The only way to find out is to try it.
