Bayou 220 Starting Problems

I am having some starting issues with my 02 Bayou 220. I have never had a single problem with it until now and it has been tough as hell. I have noticed about 6 months ago or so that I started have a little bit of grayish smoke coming from the tailpipe. I didnt worry about it at the time and it has been just like normal since then. Anyway today I drove it up on my trailer and it ran great and about 15 min or so later I couldnt get it to fire. I put a new plug in it and it didnt make any difference. I pulled the air filter off and sprayed some WD-40 in the carb and it did fire off that but when it ran for the couple of seconds off that it put out a ton of grayish colored smoke and didnt run for crap. I had thought that possibly my rings have gone bad because it doesnt seem like it is getting good compression, or possibly something to do with the carb. If anyone has any ideas or starting points I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

You might also want to check the timing on it mine smoked and then quit and it was the halfmoon key in the charge magnetic drum had sheered and the 4 wheeler wasnt fireing rite then it finally slipped to far to even start!

WARNING: I am new to the 4 wheeler world so any advice i might give will be common sense or compareable to regular autos! If it's bigger than you shoot it twice!!!!!!!!

I am having electrical problems. I have tested the battery and it is good. The green neutral light comes on but the headlights do not. When I turn on the headlight switch the neutral light goes off. I get nothing when I push the ignition button but it will start with the pull rope.

Still sounds like current isn't getting to the starter. Check your battery voltage when you turn on the headlights (with the engine off). Does the starter make any sound at all, like it's trying to start? Your battery may test well with no load, but it may not have any capacity to deliver the current. You may also have a bad connection or ground in the system, too.

If it would be helpful I could send you the electrical diagrams and info from the technical manual. Just let me know!

You have either a bad ground or a bad connection.
