I have a 400 Prairie 4X4 that had been running like a champ but I got real busy and it sat for a few months with minimal riding. I finally got a chance to take it out this past weekend but when I tried to start it, I noticed it was idleing low even after adjusting the throttle.
I finally got it going but after a few minutes of riding it cut off and I noticed white smoke coming out of the battery compartment. After opening it up I found that my CDI had gotten real hot and melted the coating on the back of the box and the connection to the wire harness. Does anyone know what might have caused this? Also, I have heard it can be rebuilt and/or I could build one myself. Is this true?
