Default Prairie 300 will not idle.

Just picked up a 2000 Prairie 300 4x4 automatic. It has less than 500 miles and in very good cosmetic condition. It had been sitting for a while. Put in new gas, battery and plug. It will start cold fine with choke closed but as it warms up and you try open the choke it stalls. If you choke it will restart but will not stay running unless you keep the choke at 75%. Carb looked clean but used some cleaner on it anyway with no change. Tried the idle adjustment knob but still will not keep running without keeping it choked. Any suggestions?

disassemble the carb and clean the pilot jet thoroughly. Make sure you remove it and clean it until you can see through the hole in the end of it

Thanks for the info. You confirmed what the dealer told me yesterday. I will try that today. While I have the carb apart is there a rebuild kit for it? Are there any parts that I should replace or just a simple clean and reassemble?

Clean and reassemble should do it. Did I say clean? I mean REALLY clean, all circuits and jets. Every circuit has gummed-up fuel plugging it. Once it's clean and running well, add some Seafoam to the tank to really finish the job.
Many people post that they "cleaned" a carb and the ATV, motorcycle, etc., works better, but still not great. Then they have to go through the extra work of recleaning, or getting a shop that has the proper equipment for cleaning carbs to do the job.

Ok I have decided to remove the carb to disassemble and clean. Now I have two more questions.

1- How do you remove the choke cable from the carb?

One wire is held up by a plastic clamp. When disconecting it the "sensor or element" fell out. This "sensor" appears to have been just slid into the carb. There was some white pasty material on it.

2- Is this supposed to slide out and do I just put it back in or does it need some sealant?

I don't know about the choke cable, but the other thing is an electric carb heater to stop frosting up in cold weather.

Ok I got the carb off, disassembled, cleaned, reassembled and installed. Now it will idle but when giving it gas under a load it hesitates and/or misses. There is one screw accessible form the bottom of the carb. I am assuming it is the mixture screw. Anyone know a good starting point of how many turns out from being all the way in it should be? I put it in the same number of turns it was when I took it out. I am thinking the fuel mixture is not right.
