Coolant leak!

Hey fellas, i got a problem. This morning got up and decided to take my baby out for a cool ride. Nothing serious just aroung the block and about 2 miles to my dad's house. Got her back to the house and noticed that my SRA was leaking coolant from under the reserve tank. Has anyone had this problem, if so what can you do to fix it besides taking it in for service. What could have caused this?

Is it coming from the coolant tank itself or from the tube on the bottom of the motor? If it is coming from the tube with the plastic bulb on it , then I believe that it means that the water pump seal is leaking. Im not totally sure on this though.

I removed my overflow tank to flush the cooling system the other day and noticed that the factory had a hose clamp turned the wrong way and it was rubbing against the tank. I moved the clamp to a different position. You may want to remove your tank and make sure nothing is rubbing against it and to check for holes. It is very easy to remove, 2 phillips head screws.

Im not sure shumate650 but it doesnt leak unless the bike is running and its leaking from the bottom right near that tube so ill take it off and check. I knew i could count on you Shumate650. I let you know what i find when i get it off. I probably wont take if off until in the morning because im going to my sons graduation tonight. Thanks man.

You may get lucky and it might just be a loose clamp?? I noticed that the ones Kawi used down on the water pump seem to be very cheap. I actually replaced it with a better one. Good luck!! Enjoy your sons graduation!!

I had that happen on mine the other day. Ended up being that I put too much coolant in the over flow tank and it was pushing it out when it got up to temp. It got worse after I shut it off but stopped when it pushed out enough. That was a dumb ass move on my part though

Ok i got the tank off and there is this little bulb lookin thing under the water pump that has the word "UP" on it. It has a little hose on the end of it and the coolant is leaking from that little hose. WTF is that, why is it leaking and what do i do to fix it.

You need to buy a waterpump ceramic gasket and a sidecover gasket. Remove the entire left side cover and replace the seal on the inside of that. The waterpump and impeller have to come off before the sidecover, but the seal is inside the cover.
