Default 2010 Kawasaki Brute Force 750i Knocking from left rear axle

I was riding last weekend when i started hearing a real loud knocking noise. I stoped and jumped off to see what was wrong and didnt see anything out of the ordinary. I proceeded to ride to the truck and it didnt make the noise agin. If i turn sharp to the left i can hear a knocking noise in the left rear axle. I took the axle off and cleaned up the inner and outer ball joints and everything looked fine. Anyone have any sugestions? I do have a leak in the rear main but the noise sounds like its from the axle. I would take it to the dealership but i only had a 1 year warrany which went out last month.

You said that it makes the noise when turning it to the left, perhaps your rear wheel bearing is going bad?? Not sure what else it could be if you have already ruled out the axle.

Mine did the exact same thing! Loud clunk or knock noise when I turned left but not all the time. My problem though was not what I thought it would be. I to thought it was coming from what sounded like the axle. Check the belt it appeared loose. I took the shims out of the secondary and put in a new belt and clunk was never heard again! It was the old belt slapping the cvt cover but sounded like it was coming from underneath the bike. With the shims out the belt is perfect.

That took care of my knock. Yours could be the cv or something but thought I'd throw that in there! I also had a nut that was loose in the rear diff but that was only the 2008 brute 750's though due to a factory screw up. The darn nut backed out and would've blew the diff if I waited any longer to fix it
