Oil Leaking from front Exhaust

** The below is pretty long to sum up i adjusted the valves and now oil is dripping fro the front exhaust a drip every second ( Quite a bit of Oil ) **

I am new to this forum and looking for some help. I have been reading and searching the forum for the last 3 days. I have a 2002 Kawasaki Prairie 650 that has been sitting for probably two years, While we were working on our house and moving.

When i went to get the 4 wheeler back to running condition i found mice had been all through the carbs and even in the intake boots, how i am not sure how they made it past the carbs. I cleaned everything up had to replace the carb due to corrosion from mouse piss. Vacuumed the intake ports and cleaned them out. I put the new carbs on i bought (used) after a good cleaning and new mains and pilots. I adjusted all the valves and she fired right up.

I tweaked the air mixture and idle screw and noticed a loud ticking. I adjusted the vales incorrectly. I wend back in and readjusted the valves making sure it was on the compression stroke this time.

Started it again it it ran very smooth, i then noticed some smoke from the from cylinder. I have a steady drip out the exhaust connection for the front cylinder its oil. It is coming from the exhaust port. I checked the valve covers and they are dry and not dripping on the exhaust I removed the exhaust and it is coming from the cylinder.

Now this is a lot of oil a drip every 1-2 seconds and didn't take long to make a large puddle on the floor before I shut it down.

What could I have don't to cause this and how do i fix it. I do have a service manual if you give me some direction.

Thanks All

I tend to be leaning toward a valve oil seal. Unless someone has another idea.

I would guess the weep hole on the cylinder. There should be a machined hole on the head check that out don't know if they put that on those heads or not check it out and let us know

This has me a little confused, are you saying a weep hole in the head to return oil through the cylinder?

I'd double check the o ring on the valve cover.

As others pointed out, make sure that the o-ring on the valve adjustment cover isn't out of place.
Too much fuel in that cylinder, or it's not firing. It's washing the carbon out of the cylinder, exhaust ports and top of the piston; it's ends up looking like the consistency of oil when it leaks by the exhaust gasket.
Does the front pipe get hot (indicating that it's firing)? If it's not, find out why. Also make sure that the fuel enrichener (choke) isn't stuck on in the front carb; that's a known issue on the early V-twins.
