Okay, check and clean the carb. Also let it warm up for a few minutes before taking it off choke. You can also mess with the idle speed. All small simple adjustments.

I am by no means a carb expert but heres what I have learned so far. The choke creates a rich condition, so when you take it off, the carb is starving for fuel. So I would pull the bowl off the carb and remove and clean all the jets well. I would bet since its been sitting, they are gummed up. My buddy called me last weel and said his lawnmower was doing the exact same thing. He did what I said and its running great.

It's really not that hard if you have any mechanical ability. Buy a carb rebuild kit and some carb cleaner. Google how to rebuild motorcycle or atv carb, make sure you clean the jets good and use compressed air to blow them out. Basically just take it apart, clean, replace any gaskets and o-rings in the rebuild kit then just put it back together.
