What type of bike do you have is the first thing we need to know, is it carbed or fuel injected.

CDI' arnt cheep, if you got a FI bike then these are just 2 off the top my head:

if your looking to get the copperhead CDI (completly replaces your stock CDI) that's $500 plus you'll need their $60 USB tool to program it properly.

If your looking at the MSD Controller (this ties into existing CDI) that will run you somewhere from $340-400, VForceJohn has these custom tuned and would be the best spot to get one if IMO.

The aftermarket CDI's will do alot from your machine, everything from the timing and fuel mapping, removing the reverse limiter, some delete the belt switch...
All in all they will wake your machine up.

If it is FI then KawiMonster did a great job explaining but if its a Carbed bike there are much cheaper options. The Dyantek being the best overall best and probably most recommended. When punching the gas it burps a little until 7 clicks, that will be gone and you will have full power. It will open the power band up and get you to 100km/h a whole lot quicker possibly even raise the top speed. It also retards timing, removes belt light and reverse limiter (Can you say reverse wheelies?) or even the forward ones really but they are played out so reverse ones are the way to go. The dynatek runs around 200$ and takes 30sec to install. 3 plugs. The moose is also available, its cheaper but limited capabilities as it only helps the power down low from 0-10km/h.
