Default Prairie 700 backfiring through carbs

I have replaced the fuel pump. It starts right up but will backfire through the carbs when given high throttle. I was
thinking i need to clean the carbs or jets? Any ideas?

Popping thru the carbs could possibly be caused by dirty carbs or else it is running lean and needs to be rejetted. Did you do any motor upgrades recently that may cause it to need to be rejetted (e.g., installed aftermarket exhaust, drilled holes in the airbox, install a high flow air filter, etc.)?

Then my guess is that you probably got some trash in the carbs. It doesn't take much to clog up the carbs and make them run poorly. My advice is to remove the carb bowls (be careful if they still have the stock carb bowl screws...they are soft and tend to strip out on the head) and the diaphram/slides (they are under the large black plastic caps) and spray out the carbs real good with carb spray and reassemble. If you haven't already done so, now would be a good time to replace the stock carb bowl screws with allen head bolts. Good luck.

X2.
If it ran good before the fuel pump went bad, then you dislodged some dirt and it's now in the carb/carbs.
