Removing a primary clutch

I tried to take off my primary clutch with the puller... Didnt work. I used the puller and a socket wrench. I pretty much torqued it as much as I could. No pop. The dang thing did nothing. Do I need a impact wrench?

was it a puller made by kawasaki, epi, or dalton? or was it a puller off ebay or on a website that said its made for Kawasaki but doesnt give a brand? if it is a "no name" puller then it will NOT work., by the way i almost destroyed my clutch with a "no name" aka... Chinese puller that says its made to work on a Kawasaki but wont. get a puller made by epi, dalton, or Kawasaki and it should work fine. My personal puller is epi and it works great

Junk, they are not hardened like the Kawasaki or epi and the tip will mushroom or bend and trash the threads on the crank and remember it reverse threads so tighten to remove

^ OEM or EPI are the way to go. Use an impact if you have one.

How big/long was the socket wrench, and how were you holding the clutch from turning?

I was using a half inch large socket wrench. Had some decent torque on it. wasnt doing a damn thing. I had a large screw driver pushed through the clutch binding up on the step or something. The clutch remover threaded in like a normal bolt. It was not opposite like the clutch bolt. Weird enough...

the clutch bolt comes off reverse thread but the puller bolt goes in normally, you still need to get one of the three pullers... kawasaki, epi, or dalton, you can get them online or ebay or even the dealer but my dealer had the epi in the catalog, ordered it and it worked good, about $40 and i recommend it. If you dont get one of them and keep torquing your Chinese puller, your going to destroy the crank and clutch. vforcejohn says the same thing and he is the first one who pointed out to me that ill destroy my own clutch with the chinese puller so i bought an epi, it came right off but i literally had to jump on the wrench with all my weight until "POP" it came right off. Also put a screwdriver between the clutch to hold it in place while taking it off.
