Default Kawasaki Prairie 300 problem!

hi. new to the forum. did some searching and dont quite understand everything since im pretty new to it.

ive got a 99 prairie. it will start. for about 10 seconds. there is a loud knocking comming from the left hand side of the engine. behind where the pull cord is located. bad knock. and it feels like there is something in there loose and getting banged around. every few turns it seems like it gets wedged in there. and wont allow the motor to crank at all. i took the pull cord off so i could turn the motor with a rachet and i can feel whatever it is in there when i turn the motor.

even when it dosent get stuck and it does start it will only stay running for like 10 seconds and shut off.

any ideas where to start. ive been reading on here alot about rod bearings and clutches but not sure if this is either. thanks.

The clutch is on the opposite side.
The flywheel and stator is on the pullstart side, but if the flywheel is loose it wouldn't run.
You're going to need a mechanic.
