Doing some work on a 1988 Bayou 300 that has the volt. regulator and CDI bad in it. Seems to be a common problem with these and there is even an aftermarket source for CDI/igniters. Only problem is they are for a 1989 and up. I looked at one for the newer ones and the plugs are the same and so are the wire colrs. Only difference is how the wires go into the CDI box itself. Does anyone happen to have or can get access to wiring diagrams for an 88 and a 89 Bayou so maybe I can figure out what wire does what and try to make this work. All other electrical components are the same just the harness and igniter are different. Only reason I am trying to do this is because it's so old and the aftermarket is almost $200 cheaper.

Hi MuddyArkie

I have a service manual for the 86-87 KLF300 if that will help. Send me your e-mail address and I can send you a scan of the wire diagram. I tried to attach it to this reply but every time I try it will not accept the type of file I save it as. Then I tried to send it through the e-mail link in your profile but don't see a way to put an attachment.
