ok, i have had my bighorns on my bike for about 6 months now and im wishing i had my 589s back or that i would of put holeshots on or alltrax. so far my bighorns do not clean that well on hillsides, i find myself having to use 4wd on hills i had no problem with with the 589s. i figured these tires would clean pretty decent considering they are racing these tires. mine just seem to gum up with mud. i will say they havent done bad as far as wear goes bc they dont even look like they have any miles on them at all, i tried them in the snow this evening, about 3 -4 inches and i did a ton of spinning but i was satisfied but not impressed. i know i dont have the tread depth or weight i had with the itps but as much bragging as ive heard about these tires i was expecting alittle more.

MUDLITES!! I can still pull wheelies in the crunchy snow with mine. They are very good all around. I was impressed with them. Some mud tires are good in the snow too but I have not tried them. Just my 2 cents!
SMILE!!

I had a set of holeshot atrs and a set of 27 mudlites when I had my p650 and in the mud obviously the mudlites were better.....but in the snow my atrs hooked up ALOT better......Most hills with the mudlites I would spin over the crest of the hill and with the atr's I would wheelie or jump over the same hill...All depends on what you're using them for I suppose

Well said prairierider. Each tire has a specific terrain it was designed for. The Bighorn was not designed for mud. If you had a chance to read any of the reviews on them, they all say the same. The bighorns handle good, are very durable and long lasting. I've had mine on over 1200 miles, all very rocky terrain and the have held up great with no flats.

I just sold my Big Horns and put on a set of Badland XTRs. I haven't gotten a really ride on them yet but my buddy had them on his Prairie and he likes them a lot. The problem I had with the Big Hoen is that unless you are in 4wd the front would push you couldn't get the damn thing to turn. <_< They do great if you are in 4wd all the time but I like to play in 2wd when I am trail riding. I probably won't pay the extra $$$ for a set of Bighorns every again.
Penland is the one who has made these tires famous. When I met him down at Windrock last summer he was running the Bias Plys.

This thread is depressing me!!
I have already sold my 589's and am running stocks now and will soon buy some bighorns. I have considered the badlands but have decided that will most likely get the bighorns on some C-Series. I was amazed at how much the 589's gripped and they seemed to grip better than the mudlites that my brother has on his identical ATV. But my problem with the 589's is that they aren't the best riding tire and I don't need that kind of grip since I don't seek out mud. I mainly trail ride and sometimes ride in some sandy areas. So I wasn't all that worried about losing grip in the mud because I already knew that bighorns weren't made for mud. But what is this about them not handling good or turning? I thought that was the handy thing about bighorn radials.I want a tire that has a smoother ride and good handling for trail riding, but wear extremely well and are very durable. I thought that described a bighorn, but are some saying they don't handle so good? |

They are very durable. The set I just sold had about 1200 miles on them and they still had 90% tread left. The problem I had with mind is when we would ride trails that had been cleared... meaning there had already been ATV threw the trail that day and there were no leaves or anything and all that was there was hard pack dirt... The front end would push and you could get the thing to turn. Another thing is that when you were in loose packed dirt and tried to slide the rear out a little it wanted to keep on coming around. You really had to play with the throttle in the corners. 4wd the tires do a lot better but I don't personally like hitting the trails hard in 4wd. I am scared of busting the front diff if I get air when I blasting down a trail.
Running in 2wd all the time has caused me some head aches though to. Expecially if you crest a hill and there is a mud pit with no way around and these things take what seems like 100 feet for the 4wd drive to engage. They are a good tire but I don't thin they are the best. I have no idea what is the best though either I am just hoping there is better.
