I know the dynatek advances the timing and it great for racing, but does it affect longevity of your engine when you don't use it for racing, but for trail riding with rides in the 100 miles and more?
I had the dynatek in my Arctic cat V2 and had some engine problems and I now have a new Kawi 650i and I just want to rule out the dynatek for those problems....
We sometimes run at 45 / 50 miles per hour for 15 / 20 minutes at a time if not more...
Thanks in advance for the answers....

If anything, I would think the Dynatec would help engine longevity. I do not have a temp guage on my P650, but several forum members posted, when the Dynatec first came out, that it allowed the engines to run cooler. That is good for engine longevity.

After I added my dyna cdi my fan didn't kick on nearly as much.

I knew they ran cooler, but wasn't sure if they still ran cooler at highspeeds for long periods of time

I would think, at the very least, that they would not run any hotter than stock. Even for long periods of time. I have a Dynatek on mine, and have had one since they first came out. I cannot speak to longevity, as I spun a bearing in my crank at just under 3000 miles. That is the result of swamping the motor though. Nothing to do with the Dynatek.

Sounds good.... Thanks for the input... I had 5500+ miles on my V2 with the first 1000 with a moose module and then a dynatek... Just didn't want the same engine problems with the new one..
Appreciate it....

We usually ride a lot of miles sometimes running 45-55 for a while and never have had any overheating problems. I have never had a problem with mine. It was a good investment in my book.

OK. my initial question wasn't about overheating, but just causing premature wear on the engine. Overheating, you see it when it happens. Premature wear, you don't... that's all I wanted to know, if something SLOWLY happens that you don't see.
But i'm OK now with keeping on running the dynatek...

No it will not cause any damage. As long as you are jetted right and maintain regularly you will be fine.
