Well as some of you know I have been in the process of building a 665 Prairie. Well I finally got it together and it runs.
All I can say is WOW. I know it isn't that big of a build but it is diffently an improvement over the 633cc motor.Only problem I have is that it is kinda hard to start now. The first crank it took several cranks to start it. Now sometimes it starts after cranking a couple of times and other times it cranks several times. I don't know what that is all about. I thought I might have a cam out alittle but I checked it and it wasn't. Once it runs it runs really good. I opened it up a time or two and now I need to do a little clutch tunning but in 600 ft. I am hitting 68 mph and in 300 ft. I am hitting 59 mph. Where before I was running 63-64 in 600 ft. and 52-54 mph in 300. I still have some tuning to do to get it right but like I say it is diffently an improvement I just need to get it to start better. If anyone has any Ideas I am open to all!! Thanks guys for all the help.

GOOD DEAL G I would of thought the cam was out to.. hope you like it. I guess this is the last big investment untill the baby comes ![]() [/quote] Yep, this is it for a while. I might pull the valve covers back off and check it again while the plastic is off, just to be on the safe side. It does run good though once it is started. I ran it a minute ago and did hit 75mph before I had to let off. I am happy over all, just need to get the starting problem fixed. It is starting alittle better now but not as quick as it was. I might pull the carbs off and clean them also. But it does seem like a runner. I can't wait to ride again and watch the jaws drop.

Do you have the decomps on your cams? Your motor is probably still a little tight. But don't take it easy...it'll only get faster.

I am running 42 pilot jets.
It is starting better now, just takes longer than it did before. Where it used to start in like a crank or so it takes sometimes 4 now. It might be the battery, I might check that next. Does it make a difference which cam you install first? I put the front cam in first because I had it at top dead center where I took the front off last. But I put it in on TDC and then turned the crank to TDC on rear and installed it. I set the Valves at .004 IN and .006 EX. I thought it might be a cam out but it runs too good for that.

I always start with the rear head and pull it down and install and then move the front, but I think you should start with the rear but it could be right,
Great you got it going man I know your are happy,I loved my 665 it ran very well cant wait to hear your times.Good Job Neal!!!!

If your running the 42's maybe it's too rich
Mine takes a little longer then when it was stock but if I give it a little throttle it starts right up.
