I've got a '07 Brute 650 SRA. It has always ran great with no problems starting or idling. It has sat for 2-3 months, and when I got it out for a ride there is a bad stumble in the bottom and severe popping from the exhaust when I let off from WOT. The quad will idle with the choke on when cold, but dies when i shut off the choke. Once it is warmed up, it won't even idle with the choke on. Has anyone else had this problem? Aby suggestions on where to start. I plan on tearing into the carbs, but was wondering if the choke sticking was still a problem like it was with the older Prairies and V-Forces. If so, does anyone have instructions on how to fix the stuck choke problem? Thanks.

I had the same problem with my BF750 and it turned out I had water in my fuel tank, so before taking your carbs apart like i did and end up with the same problem I would try to siphon out the old fuel first.

Clean your carbs. You can't leave gas in your carb bowls if your going to let it sit for months at a time. Gas turns into gel. You will need to clean all your jets with a small wire. Very easy about 2 or 3 hours of work.

I ran into an odd problem last time I ran my '08 BF 650i

Went for a rip at about -25C(-20F), while it didn't want to start, it got going (nothing likes to start that cold, especially carbs). It warmed up just fine, and seemed to be running fine, but I was at WOT for a good stretch (once warmed up), I let off the throttle rather than braking to slow down, but once the quad actually stopped, it stumbled and died. Had to be 60yrds of slowing down. I got it started again, but it was more difficult than I was expecting considering how warm the engine was.

Same thing happened again, was running close to WOT for a bit, then slowed down and "puttered" into the yard, got off the bike and went inside, and when I can outside a few min later, it had died again.

I'd really like to get this issue sorted out as I want to use this as a work quad next winter, but if it's not going to run well in the winter I'll have to settle for a set of Hondas...(shudder)
