Default New brute with FI problem

I'm new here and I've recently started having problem with my '09 brute. I've had it for a month now and the high temp light and the FI light randomly come on together or alternately, I guess whatever they feel like doing that day. This all started about a week ago, a friend and I were riding on some trails and found some mud to play in. Long story short, my radiator became 75% clogged with mud which set off the high temp light. I drove it slowly home, which wasnt far away, and cleaned out the radiator fins. During this time, the FI light began blinking. After about 5 minutes it stopped blinking. It never came on again that day nor the high temp light and we rode quite a few miles. A couple days ago, I unloaded to go riding with friends and not even 5 minutes into the ride the high temp light came on again but the radiator was completely clean. Then it stopped and never came on again and we rode for about 6 hours. Today my wife and I decided to go riding, we came to a pretty badly rutted trail and about half way in we got stuck. I shifted into reverse and backed all the way out, granted there was ALOT of mud-slinging going on. When I looked down, the FI light was blinking. I decided to head back home, then the high temp light started blinking. The high temp light would come and go but the FI stayed on the whole time, which was probably a 10 minute ride. I could turn the engine off then back on and the FI light would still be blinking. After about 30 minutes of sitting there with the key off the light never came back on. Basically my question is, is there some kind of connection between this damn FI light and the high temp warning light??? I havent modified anything on this brute, other than a lift kit, that would in my opinion create this problem. Any help that you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. I love this machine and all but this is getting VERY annoying.

Yea the fan is cycling like it is suppose to and it has plenty of coolant in the overflow and radiator.

Mine did the exact same thing it is an 08, did those sequences twice for about 15-20 mins @ a time, have not seen them on for over a month, after the first swamping I washed and dried everything and put die-electric grease on all connections I could get to. This was before these lights came on. ???

I also greased everything that I could see and made sure all the connectors clicked back together correctly. I found a thread about pulling the codes from the ecu and it maybe telling me which connections may be loose. I was also reading on another site that if you put a lil too much grease in those connectors that it could make some of the pins back out when connecting them back. Ima try this today and see if maybe I have a loose connection.

Did you check the battery terminals? Mine were loose on my 08, and the thing went crazy! I tightened them, and was good to go.

They were tight, next thing I check after the radiator and coolant level. I chased many problems on efi cars to know to always check the grounds when having issues.

ok, heres my update: I did the procedure in the service manual to pull trouble codes from the ecu and to my surprise, there were none. I double checked EVERY connection dealing with the EFI that I greased, checked the radiator again and the battery terminals. I even rode it around in low gear trying to get the high temp light to come. The fan will cycle like its suppose to but no FI light or high temp light. I'm out of ideas here, I've checked and recheck everything.

when your temp light comes on the EFI system runs superrich to keep the pistons and valves from burning up. when you go mudding pressyre wash your rad out from the backside. just spraying a hose over the front dont get the baked mud out from the fins. on the back side and middle of the cooling fins. if mud went in from the front wash it out from the back thats my rule... thats the problem with EFI they are picky,
best to keep it clean and well sealed from water.

Thanks for the input bro. I have cleaned it from the front, back and any way I can get pressure to it. The rad is spotless. Its an intermittent problem it seems. It does make sense that its adding extra fuel to combat the rise in heat but will that cause the FI light to come on just because its adding more fuel?
