Prairie belt light flashing

While riding my prairie 700 I was running around 40mph when the rpm's dropped and I could only do 4-5 mph At the same time the belt light came on. Is this coincidence or does the bel light control the rpm's

I have found how to reset the light, but I was wondering if anyone thinks I have bigger problems.

Any help would be appriciated

yes the light does control the rpms. the bike goes in limp mode when a malfunction is detected. my light came on and never had an effect on the bike but when i had it serviced it came on flashing and i had to reset the switch but i cant get my light to go out.

Well I took it to the shop and they said it could have been activated because I ad a dead battery, He said it will only go into limp mode if the switch is tripped in the tranny.
