Just went to fire it up to load it into my truck, and it won't start. Turns over just fine, and almost starts but it won't quite go, wonderful.
My first quad experience isn't going so well.

If over flow is bubbling then you have a blown head gasket, happened to me today. Replaced head gasket and bubbles are gone.

No special tools and if you have not done it before now is a good time to learn since you have a manual.
Expect to pay at least a couple hundred bucks though probably more
Mine was already mostly apart so it only took me about a hour and half.

So they are saying it just needs a valve adjustment as there is low compression in 1 cyl, does this make sense? How would that cause overheating? Just by overworking the other cylinder?

valves out of spec can cause hard starts, and a bad head gasket can cause low compression and the coolant in your overflow tank to boil.

Turns out the front head gasket was toast. I brought it back to the shop and they tried to charge me 15 hours labour at $100/hr + parts, i laughed in their faces and picked it up, found a guy to do it for $200. He did the rear as well just in case, but told me the rear cam is showing a fair amount of wear, so i'll replace it(hopefully i can find one here). He said likely cause is lack of oil/not changing often enough.. Should i just get rid of this thing, or should it be ok with a new cam and proper maintenance? If it's a timebomb i rather just get rid of it, and pick up a new one

Hard to say, kind of hard to believe the cam is toast and the head is not.
