Rear seal leak fix? Kawi update!!
There's a new rear output shaft and seal that Kawasaki needed the dealer to install for a warranty update on my 08 Brute! Has anyone else ever had to replace one??? stupid question I know- I think I'm on my 5th warrantied seal in 3300 miles. I was planning on throwing my Brute back together after the dealer rebuilds a new rear end for me (under warranty after the pinion nut backed off and destroyed a the bearing and tearing the casing up and 20 other parts they needed to order to build a new one) but the dealer said they needed my Brute in to do this new update.
No other details at the time but I dropped it off along with 90 parts this afternoon and I'll let them throw it back together at Kawi's expense.
Anyone else hear about the new fix for the rear seal? Here's what my bike looked like before I brought it in...

I hope it works, although it's not hard to change, it should never fail this frequent. My failed at about 250kms.

Got the Brute back a on Friday - $1100 worth of parts to rebuild a full rear end...warrantied thank you Kawi the dealer couldn't do the updated rear seal which includes a full boot over the rear seal to keep dust and mud out of the seal..makes perfect sense to me cuz Suzuki (King Quads) had that design since 05+..from what I know...zero problems with the 2 I have- 1 has 4400 miles the other 2900 or so. Anyway dealers calling me when they get the right tools to do the job.... anyone else have this offered to them? Supposedly it's a new thing that even new quads don't have.......only the ones with seal problems(which I'd guess is most IMO)

Ill post pics as soon as I get in front of a computer. The cover over the new "double" seal is the same design as the caps protecting the inner rear cv joints...against the rear end. And a new drive shaft along with the update... The dealer needed a special $100 tool for the update also.

looks new to me, hope it works well, now get out there and get grass and sand on it. Do you know how much the part is worth? Part number?
I have a spare old style seal, but it would be nice to have the upgraded one on hand.

I'm not sure if the part # was on the reciept... and I'm guessing it'd be at least $100 because of the new drive shaft. Maybe cheaper since they pretty much know they have a flaw in their design. If I dont' have the part number, I'll call the dealer and see if they can shed some more light on pricing and availability..and the "Kawasaki" tool they needed to install this....until then..just waiting to get back on the trails.
