Default Carb Question

Ok I'm having a small issue that I can't figure out.. After tuning my bike and getting the a/f right it doesn't want to idle very good.. Somtimes when I give it gas the throttle doesn't come all the way back down. I can pop the throttle and sometimes it will come down but still turning higher rpm's han it's suppose to be, sometimes it will die out.. Sometimes I can pop the throttle and it will go down to idle perfect and then when I'm not even touching the bike it will rev up on it's own about 1000 rpm's, what could cause this ?? I have been over the carbs and everything seems to be working correctly, slides, floats, etc.. It's not the chokes because I have cut the cable on those because they were a pain in the azz getting stuck all the time.. I'm running 45 pilots, Dynojet 138 front, 144 rear, needles on 3rd clip w/ 2 shims.. If I step it down to 42 pilots I get a real bad cackling and popping on decel.. ANY help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks, John

I already tried that, it ran like CHIT then !!!! Maybe I could go down to a 42 pilot and add one shim ?? Can you run 3 shims on the needles ??

What motor? I hope not your 840.

Put your hands over the carb stacks. If you can just about close off all air flow. You will need bigger pilots.

Yeah they're on my 840.. I'm wanting to put bigger carbs on it but don't want to have to fool with building a custom air box that would be waterproof..
