just got it from a friend, had a bent valve, replaced it,was told to set timing at ex cam 1 mark facing gasket surface and 2 mark up.intake cam mark 3 on the 15th pin from ex cam mark 2 so it would be ex-2 up,in-3 up.motor has no compression.do i have the timing right?

the cams sound like they are right, as long as the T mark on the flywheel was up, you should be OK on timing. My bet is the replaced valve is might be too tight, and a thinner shim is needed. Check the valve clearance next.
