Kfx400 oil change??

Hey guys
finally learned the clutch
the transmission wasn't broken, the skid plates were just loose!

i think i should do an oil change since i rode like 5 hours on it and the old owner definatly did some also.

When doing an oil change, how do i let out the old oil?
Where do i poor in the new oil from?
Where is the oil filter located?
What kind of oil is best? 4stroke w30 or something like that?

thanks guys

I would suggest you look down a few posts for the one about manuals. Follow the website and download. Or order a paper copy. You never know when you will need it.
There is a drain plug/bolt under the oil tank (at the front in between the tires)
On the right side of the motor is a round cap with three bolts (where your filter is)
You'll also want to drain the crankcase (get under the quad and look for a bolt through the skid plate)
Everyone could have different opinions on oil (I picked up some from AutoZone /10W40 in the motorcycle area)
Drain crankcase, oil tank, and remove the filter. Remember to put all the plugs back in and the filter then replace oil in the tank. After you ride it each time check the oil for any discoloration and/or level. Hope this helps.

Be very careful about what kind of oil you put in. It has to be wet clutch compatible.

Do the filter as said as well. You can get them from the dealer or online. I usually just get the Tusk filters from RMATV and buy a few at a time, the price is right.

For oil I use Rotella T 15-40. It's about $12 a gallon at Walmart. You can use what you want but I'm happy with this stuff.

You will add just over 2 quarts. I usually put in 2.2 qts and never look at the dipstick cuz I know its right.

Seems pretty simple... Spent a while looking for the oil tank when it was right in front of me the whole time!
