Default fire out tail pipe

I am not sure if I am running rich or lean but when I rev or accel then let off throttle it shoots a 1 foot flame out the tail pipe and back fire pretty loud.

I am drilled my jets 3/32 i believe and have cross over and exhuast as well as 12 hole/twin air. Oh and 42 pilots.

I had the same thing once, but after I knew I was jetted properly. It was a plugged pilot jet.

Yep LEAN! Which could be dirty jets, leaking exhaust or improperly jetted among other things. Did this happen immediately after mods or just start doing it out of the blue?

If you drill out your jets you run the risk of not having a true hole size, 3/32 could be +/- .005-.010" depending on the quality of your drill bit, how straight you drilled it, the quality of the hole drilled

Personally I don't understand why people drill jets, they are so cheap to buy and much more accurate. If they don't offer the size you want, you probably don't need it...but you can also try different jet brands... if you have experience with precision machining and you pin gauge these jets you'll find they cross over more then you think.

If your bent on drilling your own jets, you should really use a reamer to get a quality and accurate hole. Just my 2cents

Lean huh, I was thinking it was rich. It feels like its rich when I ride it. It only back fires as i decel. never while riding and it is not over heating. it runs nice and cool.

I just put new pilots in it 20 hours ago I would not think they are dirty yet.

I would check for an exhaust leak, With the bike running, plug the exhaust with your hand and listen for leaks. You could be running rich, when the unburnt fuel coming out of you exhaust gets oxygen from a exhaust leak it can re-ignite causing a back fire.

where do i check for leaks the white bros system i have just slips together. Should I maybe try and use hose clamps or something to make sure they are sealed 100%

There is a good chance it is leaking where it slips together. Take the muffler off and put high temp silcone on where it slips togther. Put the can back on and let the silicone fully cure before you start it. I would get an A/f meter to check your jetting, it could be a big part of your problem.

Silicone like what you use to make gaskets?

I jetted where i was told I should for my set up when I bought the cross overs. I feel it is rich.
I am leaving for little sahara next friday. What jet would you folks recomend.

I have 12 hole, twinair filer kit, white bros exhaust, crossover, spark plug mod and pink spring in cvt.

Please let me know your thought on what to jet to.
