ok i put in the jets suggested for my 800ft altitude went it and changed the needles and set them at 5 as suggested for my dynojet kit.Installed my DMC dules and k&n filter and added a EPI pink spring. 2 shims/spacers still yet to be installed.I test rode the bike monday afternoon in temps of 45 degree weather and after an hour the temp light came on.Is this normal or could i possibly be running too lean? Also the black plastic piece covering the radiator would taking that off help any? does anyone know where to get an aftermarket liquid ice coolent and/or and inline coil cooler? I love the power, throttle response, and feel of the mods made but i mostly do faster trail riding and don't want to stop to let it cool off every hour. any help is appreciated.

My temp light has only came on one time, and that was during a race with the radiator plugged with mud. Check your sparkplug color.

Its never normal for the light to come on, you're lean somewhere. I'd put the needle shims on and take each main jet up one size and test ride it again.

You can get the inline coolers from Ebay. The ones for the Raptor work fine.

Has anyone ever tried that "Water Wetter" stuff in their V. Do you think it's snake oil, or does it work.

Waterwetter does work. But it really works best when your solution of water and anti-freeze is 80% - 20% respectively. Actually works best with 100% pure distilled water. In a cold climate that can be bad so I don't suggest it. Waterwetter will work ok with a 50/50 mix but it really isn't that effective. It's not a miracle fix or anything but with a 80/20 I've notice nearly a 10' drop in normal operation.

You can use stuff called ENGINE ICE that I use for my motorcycles at the road race track. That is a requirement. It is bio-degradeable, contains no phosphates and can reduce temps up to 50'. I've seen at least 15' drop in temps in my Hayabusa. More of a guess since my gauge doesn't show numerically. My friends ZX12R did reduce the temps by about the same.

It is not cheap but works good.

Engine Ice

I think that Maxima makes a coolant called cool-aid, that replaces water, but still requires anti-freeze if you need it.

I agree w/ Kevin, you're lean. Have you opened your air box up at all? If so jet up, with your mods you can probally run larger mains. I'm @ 200' and I run dynojet needles (4 clip), with Keihin mains(150f 152r) air screws @ 2.75 turns out, I have the stock snorkel removed, two TPI(thunderproducts.com) slider vents open 50% each w/twinair filter. I know K&N filters flow better, I bought one but we run a lot in an empty riverbed w/ a lotta' sand, I need the foam. I also run engine ice and a 12 fin inline coller up high. Haven't had heating problems in quite some time,(right after I first piped). Plugs are a good indicator of jetting. Duncan Racing has some pretty cool jetting tips as well. Light/white plugs are lean while black indicates too much fuel, light tan is the color to shoot for...like when you put way too much creamer in the coffee...Good luck. Keep us posted and keep toying with the jetting, after all of my jetting headaches, I own quite a few jets while searching for the perfect jetting. Carl

well i'm waiting on the iridium plugs i ordered from sparkplugs.com to come in because the spark plugs i got were in before the jetting and piping so they're not a real good indicator.I have not modified the air box at all besides the k&n filter. dynojet recommended turning the mixture screw out 2and 1/2 turns and thats were they are set with the needle set at 5 dj124 front and 120 rear main jets. i bought some engine ice yesterday and i am going to try and change that out tomorrow and my new plugs should be here anytime.I also found when messing with the carb that my front choke was stuck half open and that was what was causing the front cylinder to keep fouling plugs so if anyone is having a problem fouling plugs check that the choke lever on the handle bars actually moves the both plates on the carbs. This modifying stuff is like a drug awful addictive.Stock kawasaki spacers for the clutch spring i was told are on back order i must not be the only guy modifying my V.There's a guy in the local paper trying to trade a V for a 4x4 quad hope he'll take my suzuki vinson for it.Since i bought my V i won't buy any other quad.
