Wow, that would suck. Did you get the rest out? if not you could probably drill a small hole into the bolt. You might be able to tap it and some how remove it, I'm not familiar with all the tools out there so I'm not sure what can be done to get the remaining bolt out.
Can you take off the primary clutch? If so it should help alot in removing the remaining bolt. Does anyone know if we should be greasing the threads when we remove and install the bolt? Also should we be greasing the shaft of the bolt? |

There was a thread on here not too long ago about someone who was taking the bolt off for the first time & didn't realize it was reverse-thread and ended up snapping it. I believe he said the dealer removed the broken bolt.

Thanks Kevin...I found the thread...sounds like it might be an option...I am gonna take it to work tomorrow..and let the guys in the tool and die shop look at it and see if they can come up with anything. This really frustates me...I bet i had the clutch off of the P650 100 times..never even thought about this happening..now it looks like I am in for a battle.

it will be easy to remove sence the bolt is reverse threaded, just drill and tap and then put a bolt in the hole you just tapped and it will come out.
dont worry the guys in the tool room will get it out for ya

Update: Talked to the guys in the Tool and Die shop...they seem to think that it will come out once a pilot hole is drilled in it..and then a larger bit is put in it and a drill process is started..if not..they are talking about making an easy out type of tool to back it out..so it might not be as bad as I thought..I guess time will tell.

I notice that the sevice manual says to replace the bolt with a new one each time it is removed. I'm not a mechanic but I can't understand having to do that. The bolt costs a little over $13 so for you guys that mess with the clutch alot it could get expensive. I've only had mine off once but noticed that it was slightly bent when I removed it. I've ordered a new ...trying to get a broken bolt out is not at all fun.

I noticed the second time around on taking mine off, it was hard to screw in all the way. I had to use a socket to get past a rough spot that must be on the threads in the clutch because the actual bolt looks fine. I only hand turn mine in until its tight enough by hand i can use an impact. I wouldnt be suprised if mine broke or i accidently force it on and screw up the threads either in the clutch or on the bolt.
