I got the timing cover back on after having it off to test the coil pickup and wiring. Found nothing wrong with anything except no spark at the plugs. I buttoned it all back up so I could take it to the shop.
Of course it wouldn't start as usual, I even drained the battery trying. Hooked up my jump start box and was cranking the starter and checking for power at the wires going into the coils. After a few minutes, The motor coughed, I hit it again and it fired up! Smoke poured out of the Muzzy and off the motor(?), then it cleared up and now it runs awesome. Don't know what was wrong, but it runs very well now.

Been following this and have yet to see the problem.
I think it started when you installed the degree key. I have one but have yet to install it. Any heads up on this project would be appreciated.

V-Force700- From my experience installing the key is pretty straight forward if you have a puller. A couple of little things to be aware of is... The water pump impeller is plastic and (WILL) strip out real easy so don't torque on in when putting it back on and watch the rubber grommet where the wires go through. If it doesn't get put in the grooves just right, it will leak oil. Good luck and have fun afterwards.

Right after I installed the degree key, it started up and ran awesome, but leaked as little oil because I put the wire grommet on wrong. I removed & replaced the cover to fix the leak and thats when I refused to start.
I don't believe the degree key had anything to do with my problem, just a coincidence. I'm completly baffled as to what was wrong for that 6 days, removed and replaced the cover like 4 times trying to fix it only to find nothing wrong each time. BTW- my waterpump impeller is aluminum, not plastic.
