My rear diff oil has some water in it. It’s milky in color. I think water got in via the drive shaft area. My question is how can I clean this out. Would it be ok for me to put Kerosene in there and turn the wheels over and then just drain it? That is the best idea I had.
Kerosene or diesel will work fine as long as you don't drive it, even changing the oil a couple of times should flush it out. almart sells wet brake compatible TDH for like 8 or 10 bucks a gallon, nice and cheap for flushing
I would just change it and run it for alittle bit and change it again. When you change it again just look and see if it still is milky looking, if so just change it until you get it all out. Might have to change it 3 or 4 times.
I do them with diesel , putt it on a jack stand and drain the fluid .... fill it with diesel and run it for a few min on the stand .... refill with the correct fluid and your good to go ..
after you drain it the first time grab a can of brake clean and spray around in there with the hose on, it will help. it will drain out and the rest will evaporate.
