Turn ignition off.
Remove seat.
Locate the two 4 pin connectors under the seat. One is black and the other is grey.
Disconnect both connectors and reconnect them to their opposite color (black to grey, grey to black).
Turn on the ignition switch.
The belt indicator light should flash.
Turn off ignition switch and reconnect the two connectors to their respective colors.
Turn ignition back on and confirm that the check belt light is not on.

Allow the light to flash 10 times. 10 hrs. per flash to reset for another 100 hrs.

What if you don't let it flash 10x, will it just never come on again----And what about when you change the belt without the light coming on, will that cause the light to come on?---Thanks

Best one yet. You don't have to wait just let it flash for under 10 seconds.

This happened on my friends V. We changed the cdi and the light went away. Not sure if it will ever affect anything or if its a sign the cdi is going bad but we replaced it for peace of mine, no troubles since
