Default trailtech vapor water temp sensor install

Where is the best place to install the water temp sensor,in the lower hose to the pump or the upper hose to the termostat?

I would of thought before the thermostat personally as that is where it would get the hotest just before the stat opens.
any thoughts from anyone else?
