Default Some electrical Questions.

I have some questions regarding my '92 mojave's wiring harness.

One of the previous owners modified the wiring. The voltage regulator is not hooked up, and I cannot find a spot on the harness where it plugs in. Which color wires and where is this supposed to hook in at? Will the bike operate correctly without it in the loop - aside from the lights, which I'm guessing would blow from the high voltage.

On the harness, left side, middle of quad - there is a red and black w/yellow stripe wire sitting unused. The tail light also is disconnected, but there is no wire long enough, unconnected, running to the tail light. Is this the correct color combo for that light?

It is currently non, running, so I cannot test with a volt meter. I'm trying to get in as much work as I can while the timing chain is on its way to me.

I've tried looking over the repair manual and couldn't figure it out.

going off this image - which connector goes to the volt reg?

Well yes and no. The voltag regulator is separate from the CDI but they are mounted together on the same plate/bracket.

Can someone just take a photo of your voltage reg - it does connect up at the front on the right side (sitting down in the seat)

I guess I should get a clarifying question - this is a voltage regulator, right? Its the thing with the heatsink.

I have no wires or anything with the other end of that connector on it. If I do, I didn't see it. There's nothing on the harness anyhow. The reverse light is also not hooked up nor are there any wires for that, as well - so I'm not sure where that'd connect in, either.

The only "open" wires I know of are a red, and a black with yellow stripe, and I think they are for the rear tail light, but I could be wrong.

So the voltage reg being disconnected - Would this impact the bike being able to start / run, or just the lights, for which I've pulled both bulbs so as to not pop them.

I know that the lights did only work on high, but they did work. We couldnt figure low out or figure the voltage regualtor out, so we left it alone. Seemed to run fine.

I have the PDF of the manual, and the diagrams from that manual were posted in this thread by you. I'm still at a loss because I don't know where on that diagram the voltage reg is.

If someone could post some photos or simply tell me what color wires your voltage reg plugs in to, it would help me out a bunch.

from what i've been reading, not having the voltage reg in the circuit will pop the bulbs for the lights at high rpm, as the alternator generates more voltage.
