I was looking to take off my 12T front sprocket off of my 2k Lakota, and replace it with an 11T that I got a few months ago, to add some low end torque.
I got the guard off, I got the chain off, BUT HOW DO I GET THE SPROCKET OFF?
1. How do you hold the old sprocket stationary while trying to turn the nut?
- I tried putting it in gear, but it still turns
2. Which way do you turn the nut? -clockwise or counter?
its a right handed thread. turn it counter clockwise to get it off.
use a little heat and an air gun to zap it off.
if you dont have a airgun (impactgun) you wont get it off. just take it to a local atv or car shop and have them zap it real quick. that will save your knuckles
its easier if you keep the chain on and then use the impact wrench to get the sprocket off...it comes off a lot quicker than the sprocket going back an forth the whole time with the chain off..the chain holds it in place...which makes it come right off...thats what i did when i changed mine
I think I was able to take it off with a socket? I think I put it in gear or reverse so it woulnd spin and it came right off
