'87 Mojave Engine Take-apart Troubles
We are in the middle of taking apart the engine on a 1987 Mojave 110. We have it down to the two panels on either side of the piston, with the clutch sticking out on one side of the crankshaft and the generator on the other. The crankshaft is not turning over smoothly, so we need to dig deeper.
We pulled a nut off the end of the crankshaft with the generator, but the generator seems to be attached still. The nut on the clutch end is not going anywhere; it no longer has the generator nut to twist against and it is TIGHT.
Anyway, it seems to us that we have to get the clutch and/or generator off to get into the middle. If you have taken apart this engine before, please help. If you are unsure what the engine looks like, look up the model on kawasaki.com under owner info on the left-hand bar.
Let me know if you need more details. Thanks!
