I am selling my 1987 Kawasaki Tecate KFX 250R. This is a beautifully maintained and restored FAST Atv. LOTS of extras are on this bike.
This quad is garage kept and in excellent condition for its vintage. After an extensive search for a Tecate in good shape I bought this preserved quad from a fellow Kawasaki enthusiast located in California. I had been looking to buy a good used TECATE-4 for quite some time and found that they were rare and if you found one, it was usually in rough shape. Anyway, I got lucky and found this one in good condition.
The quad has been completely taken down and the frame powder coated blue in '04 and the items you see in green are epoxy painted ---obviously not the plastic. The plastic is original and in excellent condition---shiny, no major cracks or gouges. The seat is also original and in excellent shape. I still have the key even though it has been bi-passed to kick start and go. The kick does slip on occasion – Headlight works and pops up and closes. Rear brake light functions as well. Also I have the service manual.
The motor was rebuilt by RPS Motorsports of San Marcos, CA. The nikasil sleeve was discarded and went with a cast iron sleeve, which as you may know makes it less expensive to resleeve later. The crankshaft has been rebuilt on the right side (the side that ussually happens to break) out of billet chrome molly $$$SPENDY$$$. Then they added a professional port job to complete the major upgrades done to the motor. Items also added include: new main bearings, gaskets and seals, fresh bore, piston, and rings, clutch cable, clutch perch and lever, chain, front and rear sprockets, Motion-Pro twist throttle, jet kit, 38 Keihin carb, FMF Fatty pipe and billet parking brake block knock-off.
Other professional upgrades include: a complete FMF Power Core set up, K&N air filter, Works shocks front and rear, 4+ rear axel (either Dura Blue or Lone Star--came with quad), 4+ billet front wheel spacers, ITP wheels front and rear mounted with Maxxis Razor's (90% tread) in front and Dunlop in the back (50% tread). I will also include my set of Douglas Black Label rims mounted with newer ITP Sand Star paddles.
