I bought my bike already built, so no idea on wiring stuff that will cross over. If you want some screwed up wiring, just let me mess with it haha
I kick myself for selling that thing. It was kind of a "temper tantrum" deal because I was aggravated with it and had several other bikes to mess with at the time. The funny thing is, I sold it to a guy in Miami which is 6 hours south of me. He drove up, paid, and took it home. He was a newb and had no clue what was up. We tried to explain to him about starting, kickback, speed, etc. Anyway, he called me the next day and offered to sell it back to me for 1000 less than he paid, and he would even bring it back. Apparently, he was trying to start it, and the kicker popped back and the guy said it blew out his knee and he was going to need surgery. I almost said yes, but passed. I'm still kicking myself dammit!haha

you can use many electrical systems from the tecate itself, KX500 86-04, or KX250 86-?, or even KX125 if you know what you are doing.
You need complete electrical: stator/ flywheel, cdi, wire harness to make this happen.
All of the electrical for KX500 has been detailed here: KX Riders - Index

I had an 88 250r with an 86 cr500 motor full dune set-up built by CT racing. Was the scariest thing I've ever ridden. It vibrated so badly you could only ride it for a little while, then had to get off it to get the feeling back in your body. Awesome at the dunes and drags, but no way you could trail ride even with a milder set-up, you be knumb in about 10 minutes. We tried rubber and poly mounting but it didn't really help. No counter balencer on 2 smoke dirtbike engines. The conversion works good on three wheelers, because the front suspension is much like a dirt bikes. The vibration is transfered down the fork tube to tires. on quads the vibration goes left and right to the tires which makes them shake.

I wish I could find it, I'd buy it back just to play with it. LOL
I'll have to look and see if I can find some pictures of it.
And, comparing vibration characteristics of a 500 2 stroke to a CRF450 4 stroke is apples and oranges, not even close. I've had several 250R hybrids with CRF450 and YZ426 bike motors and none of them vibrated enough that it bothered me at all. Just my $.02
well i found 2 more tecate t4s with a kx500 motors. its a long shot but maybe one is yours

the second link has kind of a rigged up kick start set up in the long run would this mess up the kick start gears from the extra stress on the shaft any way i might make somthing like that for mine but it will look nicer
