Default Crankshaft woodruff key size

Mine was a little boogered up when I put my new Ricky Stator in last week and well, it lasted about 2 minutes before it sheared. Is this a standard size woodruff key that I might be able to get from a autoparts/machine shop? Or is it some odd metric sized key?

Most likely a specific metric size. I used to sheer alot of those off to, I think they are still available from kawie, contact rockhound and order a hand full.

Yeah its Kawie specific. A few years ago I sheared one in the dunes and with no other options, I got the closest one from a hardware store. Toby and I wore our fingers half down to the bone trying to shape it correctly down to size by hand. It worked...for about 20 minutes. After that I bought a half dozen or so and thankfully haven't needed them again.

I can get them, the best thing to ensure long woodruff life is to use valve lapping compound on the union between the flywheel and crank. lube it up and spin it back and forth until both the crank and the inside of the flywheel are shiny, then install the key and bolt it up tight., you actually don't even need the key. The pvl's don't even use them.

Still an active Kawi part # 92038-001

Try the dealer or an online parts warehouse like Bike Bandit.

The PVL wouldn't need the key because of how light and small it is. The torque pulling on it is not nearly as much as the stock, heavy, larger diameter flywheel.
