08 teryx problems
(08 Teryx) This thing is being a headache. The front cylinder has 50 psi and the rear has 70 psi (all stock machine). The rear plug is black after 5 miles and the front looks like brand new. I took the carbs apart and put a bigger main in the front, and put two new plugs in and got the same result exept it ran worse. Im at 1100 feet. It is also cutting out around 45mph and acts like its not getting fuel. I rebuilt the fuel pump, replaced the fuel filter and blew through all the the fuel lines, it didnt make a diffrence. there seemed to be a little bit of oil in the air box so I cleaned it an pulled the breather hose off and plugged the hole. It has great bottom end up to 15mph and then it seems to take for ever to get to speed. It has a new primary and secondary clutch and belt. It didnt run like this when it was new. please help! thanks

Check the vents on the carbs. Certain insects like to make their home in those vent lines.

The diaphragm on the front carb could have a hole in it or lost it's seal also.

I have the same problem with my 08 teryx but i have major blow by, lots of oil in front carb and the slide does not open with the engine running. I am pretty sure that the rings are out. It uses a quart of oil every 3 hours of use. can u give me an update of what u figured out on your teryx. Oh by the way this is the second engine rebuild (by the dealer) on my 08 lemon!

that is nothing more than bad ring seal caused by poor air filter setup and incorrect oil setup to the plenum.
I got one in last month that was ridden all the time in Glamis. it had sand in it everywhere. finally blew the crank.
Plenum rings are a must on the 08.
better than stock air filter is a definate plus. also venting it out from under the plastic elbow cover is needed to keep the dust out.
if not, it'll never last

i also ride my teryx in the sand dunes and i have noticed sand in the air box, explains why the rings are out then. i also hear what sounds to be a bearing chatter clutch drive system. Do you think that sand got in there and took out the trans bearings? My dealer (Ride Later, in peoria) does not want to tear it down until it blows up! What is the right thing to do, it is still under factory GTP!!!!!!!!!

What you prob. hear is piston slap. Trans gears... not likely, clutch can have some play in the bushings. the clutch is snorkeled and unfiltered. guarantee sand in there
OR
You are on the verge of crank seisure.
You have to have a better air filter that seals stock does not seal at all.
you need plenum rings to keep that plenum bolted on the carbs.
remove the oil line to the plenum when the motor is out and modify the front head for an extra oil line breather.
when you blow it. will the dealer cover it?? or will they blame you??
