KFX50 Performance Mods

The suzuki LT50 has a bit of power waiting to be unlocked. There is an intake and an exhaust restriction that are easily removed. The compression can be raised 8:1 (it is 5.9 stock) and the air filter is restrictive (custom make a new one). I recommend selling the 50 and getting the KFX80, and just teach the kids or use the throttle restrictor.

From Lobeex:

The exhaust restrictor is the easiest. Just remove the two bolts that hold the exhaust header pipe to the head. You will see the restrictor, it looks like a washer with a small 1/4" hole in the center.

The intake one is in the small aluminum intake tube that connects your carb to the head. It looks like a solid washer with a nickle sized slot in the middle. To remove it you will probablly have to heat the aluminum intake while it is in a vice and keep working the restrictor w/ a scewdriver to remove it. It is pressed in so you have to heat it.

From Dave:

I just drilled the restrictor out of the intake pipe. I filed and sanded the rough edges. I also removed the exhaust tip. Kids have reported a noticeable power increase, and less possibilty of being stuck on hills, but it still needs more because they still get stuck on hills. A performance exhaust and milling the head to raise the compression ratio to 8 to 1 would probably help a lot.

From RaptorRyan:

My LT50 Performance muffler was done through a shop called Quad Central II in Las Vegas. I belive they had it made to their specs by a local place. As far as I know there is no "ready made" pipe for the little LT50. QCII # can be found in the back of DirtWheels mag, if you want to give them a call.
