Hey, my KFX 400 has been knocking. Took it out of storage the other day and it's knocking really loud now. I can run it through the gears and there is no loss of power, just want to see what it could be before I open it up. The picture shows the area of the knock.
Tap, tick of knock? If it's more of a loud ticking then I'd say cam chain.
Either way, I'd quit riding it and pull the head to begin the investigation.
Have you checked the ACCT to see how far out it is?
Check your oil level, if you were low on oil over the storage period, then yeah maybe like spize said, the cam chain is running your cam shaft gears without oil and grinding a little(tapping). Before anyone yells valves!.. If they were good when you put it away, then they're fine now, the clearance's don't grow or shrink on their own lol
If your oil levels fine, best pull the valve cover and check er out !
