What he said!!!!
700v.com if you want the 4*, also sells the flywheel puller
You can use a harmonic balance puller too
Quick question on this. Whan installing the 6* key witch way does it go in? Do I offset (cutout) the key towards the front of the engine or to the rear?
05....
check this out...
it says rear, i think....
LINK>>> To: Install Degree Key
I have a 6 deg key in mine. I like it alot!!

With the key slot on the top of the crankshaft, the protrudung part of the key should be forward, torwards the front of the V. Looking at the flywheel, it is going to rotate it counterclockwise.

One thing to note, when you do this, it will make your cam gear lines retarded. If you have a degree wheel this is a good time to mount it and scribe a new line on the flywheel for the new TDC mark
Querry...
when you say the cams will be retaded...
you mean in relationship to the ignition...correct?
as far as finding TDC or using the stock timing marks to set the valve lash...
it shouldn't have any effect...correct?
but if your trying to find TDC for the ignition timing you will be advanced 6*
or from the valve timing perspective 6* retarded...right?
I'm just trying to visualize and clarify...not disagreeingB)

So your saying a 6* key will advance the ignition timing but retard the cam timing? Then what in the world is the purpose of installing an advanced key?
It can't retard the cam timing...
The flywheel has nothing to do with the cams...
It advances the ignition timing in relationship to the pistons/crank position
The timing relationship between the cams/valves and pistons/crank is uneffected
The timing relationship between ignition and valves...valves see retarded
In other words the spark plug will fire EARLIER by 6*...when the piston is farther down in the cyl....still moving up...not @ TDC yet...
Just like any other ignition advance, then?
yep...just like any other mechanical ignition advance
I think 700ccmm was just saying that the marks on the flywheel will be off when you try to use them to find TDC (for adjusting vavles, etc).

yeah i got confused to, we put ours in like picture 1. man i hope we dont have to pull em back apart
hmm Aaron you may have to pull it apart again cause if im mot mistaken picture two is the correct way. I haven't put mine back together yet as im waiting for some one who know 100% witch way it goes in to reply first.

I believe pic #2 is correct. Haven't had time to put mine in yet.
Why a key and not a CDI like Dyna or VDI? Just curious.
Key is a lot cheaper. I'm going to try both - whenever time and weather give me a chance to work on my quad.
