Hello All

I am trying to diagnose a possible bad regulator/rectifier. I have looked any many videos. But none cover the power and ground wire testing only from Ground to to stator and positive to stator.


This is what I am seeing.

regulator/rectifier

Battery side of connector
2 white with red strip +12v
2 black wires Ground
1 Brown wire

Stator Side
3 yellow.

Tested as fallows
With regulator/rectifier plugged in to the main harness and battery disconnected I tested Continuity from the + white wire from the battery side to ground/frame I have continuity.

With the power side plug disconnected from the regulator/rectifier. I tested Continuity from the + white wire from the battery side to ground/frame its open. as i should be.

testing regulator/rectifier stand alone.

testing with + to - there is continuity
testing from + to each leg there is .5 .5 0
testing in reverse same
in all testing direction

So my assumption is the regulator/rectifier is shorted internally from + to - and there is 1 bad diode

Can some one please confirm or if i,m missing something please speak up.

Thanks I have the manual and did the Diode test and stopped there.

see results in post. I was just looking for some conformation

There are no procedure or testing I could not find that talks about the + and - testing only on the rectifier. nor any of the videos on testing the rectifier even mentions testing between + and - I don't believe there should be continuity between + and -

The base testing shows 2 circuit out of range and one circuit as bad.
