I put a procom after market high performance rectifier on my KFX 700 and then my new Dynatek CDI burned up. If the rectifier wasn't properly controlling the voltage output, could it cause this?

my bet is the rectifier has let the battery get below 11.5 volts and this causes the DYNA not to fire spark. but it will still crank over.

put the stock rectifier back on, charge the battery and leave the dyna on there. it's prob not burned up. but they have been noted for that years back if it is an old one.

Thanks John

The reason I believe the CDI is toast, is because there is a melted spot right above the smaller of the two connections on the box. Any ideas on this?

thanks John, there is a burn and melted spot above the smaller of the two connections on the CDI box. No harm to the harness though.
