Brute Force 300 engine braking

I just bought a 2015 Brute Force 300 in brand new condition. One of the things that attracted me to this machine through research and reviews was the engine braking system. But I am not very happy with the downhill engine braking on this machine. Now, granted, I am used to a foot clutch model machine. But when going downhill it feels like there is almost no braking there at all. It just feels like a full speed coast. Can someone educate me on if I am doing something wrong, if the machine is not performing as it should, or what? Thanks!

It does work, sometimes you have to kind of kick the throttle to get it to lock in. Like if you roll over a hill without giving it any gas it will freewheel down the hill untill you give it some gas so the clutch will catch. It will brake better with the trans set to low also. It takes a lot of getting used to a CVT after "real" gears thats for sure. If it doesn't behave like this maybe something is wrong. Mine is a 2018 but I bet it's identical.

Thank you for replying. I guess it just seems very counter-intuitive to me to be pushing the throttle and braking at the same time when all I want to do is slow down! LOL! I did try going downhill in low gear too, but that didn't seem to make much difference. I will keep practicing until the trails open up for the season and I get out there. I may also take it in and have it gone over just to be sure.

if your not slowing down when your in low id say somthings wrong. I don't have my engine break anymore and id rather not have it. I like to coast when I let off the throttle
