can not remove axle nut

need to remove front diff for repairs, but i can't break the axle nut loose, going to put an impact on it tomorrow. any one have similar problems?:(

take a metal stake, a round one, and put the pointy end on the lug take a sledge or 5 pound mallet and hit the stake it should send a shock wave through the lug and loosen, good luck
