We have a couple of the mules at work and we like them but wonder if there is a way to bypass the rev/speed limiter. The motor winds up high initially but then backs off....I don't know if it has a c.d.i. like my teryx or what. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes you sure can.

you drill the spring hold that goes to the throttle relief lever.

I can't explain it. but follow the spring that activates the throttle return. you drill a hole closer to the pivot point and move the spring. this way it doesn't back the throttle off as much.

it's like an old Briggs and stratton throttle return setup that is air activated.

I did it to my kids Mule I keep in KY. it will go about 35 mph

YOU CAN OVERREV IT AND BLOW IT UP IF YOU DO IT TOO FAR!!!

Thanks John. I will look it over. As I said we have two at work and one is faster than the other of course so we were wondering if there were adjustments that could be made.

Before you do anything that’s not reversible, try unplugging the connector to the speed sensor. That will give you higher revs and more speed. When I did this, I gained about 4 mph, using a GPS speedometer to check, and more rpms. But not having a tachometer, I was hesitant to keep driving without the governor.

I figured 4 more mph wasn’t worth the effort to do a permanent alteration, and void the warranty. And when the warranty expires, who knows if someday there may be a recall for something, and you might be on the hook for it if you alter the engine and controls.

I'm not

the original post did not specify which mule is in question so I gave multiple choice. Which mule out of those is being questioned?

I did it that way because in my line of work (former kawi dealer tech, service manager, parts manager, and CSR) it was a daily basis that someone would want a part for a mule or they wanted their mule picked up. Well which mule? A 500 is vastly different than a Pro FXT? They still didn't know....blows my mind. So I start asking, 500, 550, 600, 610, etc, and they pick one from the list.
