Have a sportsman 570 first and last Polaris I will own, ride is way nicer than my Brute 750, power is fine, warm in winter (blistering hot in summer). Had main crank seal fail which took out clutches/belt etc. build quality is step down from Kawi/Japanese, plastics are cracked in several places (it's a fat pig and won't got through tight trails my Brute does with ease. Rear rack is broke in two different places, thought front storage would be nice but little will actually fit inside so it's kind of a waste. If I had some extra money I would probably trade it in on a new Brute. I know the 570 is different than 850 and I would like to try an 850 but every time I get serious I look at the forums to see if they have gotten issues under control and there is still a constant stream of complaints regarding the same issues year after year. I get why your tempted I am too but after my 570 experience I just can't do it. Forgot I also had rear bearing fail and splines on rear axles have serious wear at the diff. And I hate the 4 wheel system always the first one to get stuck and single brake lever. My wife will generally choose our Prairie over the sportsman since it fits everywhere and never gets stuck, given the rough ride that says it all to me.
Forgot to add had to put tubes in all rims since Polaris built them with holes too large for airstems to seal properly and they would never admit this but it is a common issue with steel rims.
