Looking at a brute force 750 where the atv had the kickback issue due to a low battery and faulty starter, The starter and flywheel was replaced a few years ago and they found 6 out of 7 of the broken teeth so one is in the case yet. Is this a big issue? Is there a way to get in another part of the motor to get it out? The owner stated it has been in there for a few years and has never had a problem with it?

Usually not. They just find a spot and lay there out of the way. However once in a while one mas been known to find it's way into the transmision and be caught-up by a gear. In all cases where this has happened it parts the case before breaking the gear set....so if you are ever in there, get a small telescoping magnet and probe as far in the bottom case as possible. Rig something to go through the drain plug hole too so while changing oil you can search for it. Even through the dip-stick hole. May never find it...but at least you can say you tried. See if you can get a drain plug with a magnetic center.
